House price growth dipped at the end of 2017, according to official figures, as London's sluggish market pulled down the national average. UK property has increased in value by an avaerage of 4.5 per cent in the 12 months to October, slowing fron 4.8 per cent in September, while the monthly rate fell by 0.5 per cent.
The figures show diverse the UK's housing market is: in London, house price growth was just 2.1 per cent over the year, falling 0.9 per cent in October. Meanwhile, the East Midlands continued its winning streak, racking up an annual increase of 7 per cent.
